Well, it seems that as our vehicles have become more computerized so have our thieves become more computer literate.  According to  The Wall Street Journal , 'thieves are using computers to hack into car's electronic ignitions' by apparently, 'using the laptop to override the car's computer so that it recognizes a signal sent from the electronic key'. How this key is registered and what software allows this is still unknown.
